Hi we are Josie and Kevin and this is our testimony.
We
met in 1999 and were married in 2000 and moved into the Tiaro Shire.
Once we were settled, we started thinking about finding a church in
our area. Well, we talked about it on and off for a few weeks. Then
one day a flyer came in the mail about Christmas Celebrations with
Grace Community Church in Tiaro. So we thought, “Hey, this might be
the church, lets go.” Anyway we went and enjoyed it, we were really
impressed. The sermon was great, and easy to understand and relate to,
the music was great, the people were really nice and we were impressed
by the drama. We noticed that a lot of young people came to the
church, which was fantastic, as so many churches don’t seem to have
any young people these days. Anyway I wanted to get more involved in
the church, but Kevin wasn’t so sure. I was disappointed, but
decided to step back and wait until Kevin was ready. I myself was
struggling with issues in my own life from the past and the death of
my first husband in 1999. It seemed every time we went to church,
there was something I needed to look at and resolve in order to move
on. I remember the subject of reconciliation came up time and time and
time again. I kept pushing this away for a long time, but it kept
coming up, until one day I decided to do just that. Reconcile with
people I needed to from my past, and once I did that, the subject
changed and moved on to other things. I knew that it was God working
through Chris’ message to help me change my life. Chris always had
an encouraging word for us and asked Kevin to do a web page for the
church, but Kevin didn’t see the need and said no. We continued
going to Grace but not getting involved, feeling ourselves slowly
growing. Then Grace moved into Maryborough, and at the time, money was
pretty tight, so we made the decision to stop going to Grace as we
just couldn’t afford it and decided to look at other churches in our
area. We tried a few different churches and decided on one, not far
from home. We stayed at that church and gradually involved ourselves
in helping there, but our hearts were never really there, and when
finances allowed, we began coming back to Grace. Well, it was like
coming home, back to family. We had missed the church and every aspect
of it, but for a while were going to both churches. Until one day, we
made our decision that Grace was definitely our church and we have
been coming back here ever since. Since then, Chris has asked Kevin to
do the web page for Grace, and this time Kevin said yes and we have
been developing the page ever since. Kevin is also on the lighting
team and I am a part of one of the kitchen teams as well as sharing
Hospitality Coordinator with Sue Crosland. Last year, we also made the
decision to get baptised as well. Pastor Russell baptised us at
Gatakers Landing in Hervey Bay. He brought along the whole family and
Andres and Jenny Gunn came as well. Kylee, our daughter, was also
baptised at that time. It was a wonderful day. We had three huge
turtles come into where we were being baptised at the time. Being
baptised was to us about saying, “Hey God, we’re ready to take the
next step now.” Kevin and I do journaling together every day now and
feel we are growing in our walk with God. Every day we put out trust
in Him, we take our troubles to Him and we pray that our three
children will all do this one day. It’s great, Kylee comes to Grace
as well, and we hope that our two sons, Daniel and Barry will also
open their hearts to God, and experience the faith and hope we have in
God. Thank you.
